This pedal cover ended up outside my apartment this morning. It's not from my Subaru. Does anyone recognise what car it came from?

My google-fu tells me that it's either from a Kia Rio (06-09) or a universal cover .

They are designed not to. Wear and abuse makes it possible but I don't see sufficient damage for that to be the case. Most likely is that it was caught during ingress/egress by a shoe under the pedal.Kia Hyundai have a few that are suceptable to this due to retention design. Most companies do.
It is also most likely a clutch or parking brake pad as the brake is harder to get off. The hardest to get off are the Ford stainless steel accel pedals. They are bolted on. I swapped SRT8 ones onto my Charger.There are Alfa and Maserati ones that fit , but they look like poo IMO. Brake is a huge PITA. I also swapped the pads in my Mazda for the Challenger manual ones. The Mustang ones didn't fit.
Oh, BTW, I used to make brake and accel (and clutch) pedals amongst other things. In case you have not figured that out.
